This summer, the Province, police and ICBC are reminding drivers to plan
ahead and choose a designated driver to get home safely.
ICBC and its road safety partners invest in combined enforcement and
public awareness during the CounterAttack campaign as an effective way to change
driver behaviour, save lives and prevent injuries. On average, 126 lives are
lost each year on B.C. roads in crashes involving impaired driving.
Police will be out in full force looking for impaired drivers at
roadchecks across the province this summer. Visit the ICBC website for more
information. http://www.icbc.com/road-safety/roadsafety-activities/safety-campaigns

October 2011 Mayors Report
The beauty of the Peace is apparent at this time of the year; the fall colors are evidence of this. Hopefully, everyone will have a change to enjoy this great time of the year before the "S" returns.
Council has been very busy meeting with various stakeholders in the area. Staff and Council met with BC Hydro's Site "C" technical team to address the issue of a berm along the river. Property owners in the affected area took part in this session. The District will have input in the design. Bring your issues forward to any Council member or our CAO, John Locher.
Just a reminder that all regular Council meetings are open to the public. At the end of every meeting the public has a chance to address any inquiries they may have.
I have not given up on the doctor issues and will not. We have a meeting planned with industry, including Cardero Coal, BC Hydro, TAlisman and First Nations to bring a stronger voice to Northern Health. Cardero Coal represenatives have been very helpful in talks with the Ministry regarding this issue. Our hope is that with industry at the table, this will send a stronger message to Northern Health and the Ministry.
Public washrooms are being built behind the Visitor Centre as we have had many complaints from tourists regarding the lack of washrooms in the community.
At a regional meeting which I attended, Hudson's Hope was recognized for it's lovely flowers and picturesque community. It is heartwarming to hear how our community is observed by others. This brings to mind that Thanksgiving is coming soon and I am truly thankful for living in this community.
Until next month enjoy the wonderful fall weather!
Mayor Karen Anderson
